Tex Cycle was awarded with the ISO 4001 certification in 2003. One of the main environmental risks identified was the usage of plastic bags which are used for storage and logistic of waste. In 2003, the management set the EMS objective for that year as to minimize the use of plastic bags. Later, the objective was changed to replace the plastic bags with degradable bags which use starch degrading technology. The bags will gradually degrade is left under the sun within 9 – 12 months.

The EMS objective for the year 2004 is to reduce the moisture content in the sludge by 30%. The objective was divided into two stages, reducing the moisture weight by 15% in 2004 and the remaining 15% in 2005. The reduced in moisture weight meaning saving in revenue by reducing the cost paid to Kualiti Alam for disposing the sludge.

The next challenge in year 2006 for the EMS objective is to convert the sludge into fuel. The project is still currently ongoing.
